Richard Franklin Ott

January 1, 1939 — August 10, 2023

On August 10, 2023, Richard F. Ott of Gettysburg, PA, went to be with our Lord while being comforted by his loving wife Eleanor. Richard was born in Lander, MD and was the son of Cadwell and Virginia Ott.

Richard graduated from Frederick High School in 1957 and served in the US Army for 6 years including 2 years of active service from 1961 - 1963 at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He worked as carpenter for Henry Keller and after his discharge from the Army, he began working for Montgomery County Public Schools as a carpenter.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jefferson, MD. In 2014 Richard and Eleanor moved to Gettysburg, PA at SpiriTrust Lutheran Retirement Village.

In addition to his loving wife, Richard is survived by his niece Adie Harbaugh, nephews, Tim Ott and Jason Ott, brother-in-law Gareth Biser, sister-in-law Judy Ott, many great nieces and great nephews and one great-great niece. He is predeceased by his brother Wayne Ott.

Family will receive friends at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, MD on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 10 - 11 AM. The funeral service will commence at 11 AM with interment immediately following at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 637, Jefferson, MD 21755
