Paul William Reis

April 24, 1954 — October 26, 2023

Mr. Paul William Reis, 69, of Frederick, took his journey home to be with Jesus in eternal freedom and peace on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at his residence.

Born April 24, 1954 in East Meadow, NY to the late Henry and Helen (Limberg) Reis, Paul was a man after God’s own heart who loved his family beyond life. His father was a pilot in the Air Force and taught Paul how to fly from a young age. Paul obtained his pilot’s license and completed his first solo flight at 16 years old, before even getting his driver’s license. He loved flying airplanes with his dad and they flew all over the east coast. He married Jane (Feraco) at the age of 21 and devoted his life and unfathomable love to her for 48 years.

During his years in New York, Paul drove trucks in the city before beginning work at IBM. He became an engineer working on air traffic control systems when he and Jane moved to Florida in 1983 and had two daughters. Paul had a love of music and mastered the guitar, piano, drums, bass guitar, dulcimers, banjo, ukulele and whatever else he picked up and put his mind to. The Spirit of God came through his music when he played and he often brought peace to gatherings through his guitar and piano playing. He was also a talented artist who loved painting scenes of God’s creation and filled his home with them over the years.

Most importantly, Paul was a father who held his daughters in the utmost value. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Residing in Maryland since 1987, the family enjoyed hiking the area together, going to Christian concerts, playing mini-golf, taking many Sunday drives, and swimming in lakes.

He also spent many summers traveling to Maine, first with his parents, then with his wife, and finally with his daughters, taking in the glimpses of heaven found on the shores and mountains there.

Paul was a man of principle, an innate sense of right and wrong. He stood for what is right no matter the consequences, and everyone knew the love for Jesus he had. He was looked up to by all who knew him for his wisdom and deep insight, most intimately by his daughters to whom he was their world.

Paul and Jane spent the last 25 years in their home in Frederick, “the last homely house”, making many memories of Yahtzee in the dining room, Bocce in the backyard, and endless more with his adoring daughters and new grandson, who he loved so much.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Jessica Reis and Naomi Jones, son-in-law Tucker Jones, grandson Ryker Jones, sister Carol Mielke, nieces Sue Mielke and Aimee Ormond, and nephews Paul Mielke, Steve Mielke, John Reis, and David Walsh, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brother H. John Reis.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30PM on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
