Marlin Lee King, 76, of Ranson, West Virginia passed away peacefully at home, on July 1, 2023. He was the loving husband of Karen Sue King. Born on April 22, 1947, he was the son of the late Dorsey Edwin King and Ruth Rebecca King. Marlin is a Frederick County native and graduate of Frederick High School class of 1966. He is well known for his musical talent, he played music in Frederick County and the surrounding areas. The band that is most prominent is Jokers Wild, which he sang and played lead guitar. He was a well known artist and taught voice and guitar for many years at Make-n-Music in Frederick, Maryland. He is the brother of Tom King (Jane), Lois King and Elinor DeWire. He is the father of Tasha King McClain (Michael), Danielle King, James King and step-daughter Stacey Taylor-Henry (Marcus) and Jocelyn "Joy" Wilson Copeland. Grandfather of Jake Hershberger, Zack Hershberger, Mara McClain and Gary Copeland Jr. He was preceded in death by his father Dorsey Edwin King and his mother Ruth Rebecca Keeney King, sister, June Conway and brothers, James King, Larry King and Carlton King. Visitation for the family will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am. Family will receive friends for public visitation from 11:00-1:00, Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm, at Keeney Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland. There will be a private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV, and The Parkinson’s Foundation and Dementia.
