Ida Frances Zimmerman

Ida “Frances” Crum Zimmerman, 98, of Frederick, MD, passed away Wednesday October 18, 2023 at the Silverado Memory Care. Born July 11, 1925 in Frederick to the late Clarence Raymond and Helen Ada (nee Thomas) Crum. She was the beloved wife to the late Thomas Lawrence Zimmerman, Jr., whom she married on December 14, 1946 and passed away in 2006.

Frances grew up on the family farm on Opossumtown Pike.  She would start her career working at Potomac Edison. Frances would later work at the Ox Fiber Brush factory before taking a break to raise her family. She would return to work as a bookkeeper for Woolco for 20 years. She would go on to for work for Sears and Roebuck until her retirement 10 years later.

Frances took the most joy in raising her family and spending time with them. She was an active member at Evangelical Lutheran Church. Where she previously taught Sunday school.

She is survived by; her children Thomas L. Zimmerman, III, (Teresa Leigh-Zimmerman), George W. Zimmerman (June), and John Zimmerman (Sigrid), her siblings; Clarence Crum (Mary) and Patricia Ziegler, her grandchildren; Kyle M. Zimmerman (Elizabeth), Brent M. Zimmerman (Sonia), Scott Rice (Yvonne), and Charles Rice (Kara Smith), her great-grandchildren; Thomas L. Zimmerman IV, Cailey Schenck, Joseph Schenck, Sophia Zimmerman, Zachary Wright, Noah Rice, Nathan Rice, Logan Rice, Brooklynn Rice, Reagan Ritchie, Hayden Ritchie, and Holden Kline, Caregivers Judy Remsburg and Ginny Sulcer, and close friends Sylvia Cutsail, and Michael and Leigh Currens, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings George Raymond Crum, Mildred Nicodemus (Roger) and Isabel Kefauver (Kenneth), and brother in law Ward Ziegler.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD, 21701 on Tuesday October 24, 2023, from 6pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 11am. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
