Genevieve F. Harwood

On September 21, 2024, Genevieve F. Harwood, age 90, of Frederick, MD, passed away at Kline Hospice House with family at her side. She was born in Central City, PA and was the daughter of Stanley Pasierb and Mary Pieczonka Pasierb. Genny was the loving wife of John Thomas Harwood for 46 years. They were married on June 2, 1962.

Genny graduated from Conemaugh Valley Nursing School and was a registered nurse for 25 years. Her career started as an ER Nurse at George Washington Hospital and finished as a school nurse at West Frederick Middle School.

She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Frederick, MD. Genny was a proud member of St. John's Chapter of Catholic Daughters and volunteered on many of their ministry teams. Her greatest joys in life were her faith and her family.

Genny is survived by her children, Theresa Vigder (Stephen), Thomas Harwood (Laura) and Karen Hoffman (Dan), grandchildren Calvin Fisher (Sara), Carly DiPietro (Adam), Breann Harwood (Devan), Brent Harwood, Jenna Murphy (Kevin), Chase Hoffman (Courtney), Brynn Hoffman, Rachael Cross (Darius), Joshua Vigder (Hailey), great grandchildren, Bryce and Ava Murphy, Leyla and Casper Fisher, Lincoln, Emberly and Scarlett Cross, siblings Edward Pasierb and Agnes Lorenzen. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Genny is predeceased by  her siblings Stanley Pasierb, Steve Pasierb, Joseph Pasierb, Helen Knapp and Sophia Sankovitch.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD,  on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 4 to 7 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 26 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick, MD at 11:00 A.M. Interment will immediately follow at St. John's Cemetery.
