Fred Marks, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend passed from this earth on Thursday, December 22, 2022, after a short illness. He was a resident at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Frederick, MD.
Fred was born in Normantown, West Virginia on 11/24/1933. He was a 1957 graduate of West Virginia University with a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering. His love of aviation led to a hobby of radio-controlled (RC) airplanes which led to a business in RC later in life. He was a lifetime member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) in Muncie, IN., where he was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame in 2000. Fred had an illustrious career spanning six decades. The majority of his professional life was spent in the employ of Booz Allen Hamilton Co. where he was awarded a partnership and Vice Presidency in the late seventies. After leaving Booz-Allen, Fred started two separate family companies and continued to work until his retirement in 2006. Fred is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Patsy Marks, three children: Diana Marks DelGrosso and her husband Al DelGrosso of Kensington, MD, James Marks and his wife Cindy Marks of Ijamsville, MD and Timothy Marks and his wife, Judy Marks of Mount Airy, MD. He is survived by four grandchildren: Adriana DelGrosso, Christine Jones and husband Scott Jones, Paul Marks, and Anthony DelGrosso. He is also survived by a brother, Carnie Marks, of Tucson, AZ and a sister, Doris Wise of Bucyrus, OH.
Fred will be missed for his love and devotion to family and his sense of humor that included a never-ending supply of jokes and funny stories. He was a devoutly religious man who served in various ministries at First Baptist Church of Gaithersburg, Maryland where he was a member for 55 years.
There will be a memorial service in his honor in the near future.
