Edith Catherine Wiles

Edith Wiles of Hagerstown, Maryland passed from this life on February 16, 2025, at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Allen Edward Wiles. Born on April 11,1931, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Brown Spangler and Bonnie Rose Thompson Spangler Dunavent.

In her younger years Edith was a majorette at Frederick High School in Frederick, Maryland, where she displayed grace, talent, and school spirit. She carried that same enthusiasm and dedication throughout her life, always bringing warmth and kindness to those around her. Edith also had a deep love for music and dancing, especially with her late husband at the Moose Lodge in Frederick.

Edith was a devoted mother and grandmother and cherished time spent with her family.

She leaves behind two children, daughter Sharon Shaffer, son Mark Wiles, as well as two grandchildren, Dawn Crummitt and Ernest 'Ernie' Wiles, and a great-granddaughter Angela Crummitt, all of Hagerstown, Maryland. Surviving sisters, Jane Skellchock of Cumming, Georgia, Margaret 'Peg' Bender, and Linda Virts (Roland) all of Frederick, Maryland. She is predeceased by her brother Donald Spangler, sisters Jessie Fisher and Victoria 'Lynn' Anderson. Many nieces and nephews will also remember the times cherished with her.

Though she is no longer with us, her love, kindness, generosity, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. The impact she had on others will remain forever.

Her dog Layla was a loving companion who brought her much joy.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church St., Frederick, MD 21701 on Tuesday February 25, 2025 from 10am until the start of the funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
