Doris May Brittain

November 26, 1932 — April 15, 2011

Mrs. Doris May Brittain 78, of Walkersville went to be with the lord on Friday, April 15, 2011, at Kline Hospice House, Mt Airy. She was the wife of Harry Luck Brittain Jr. her husband of 52 years. Born November 26, 1932, she lived in Buffalo NY until high school and then moved to Frederick and graduated from Frederick High School 1952. Her father was in concessions and Doris traveled with him to many fairs including York and Frederick playing Bingo. After graduation she went to work at Farmers & Mechanics National Bank and remained there for some 20 years as a bookkeeper. Her husband was her next door neighbor and they were married October 12, 1958. She was a member of First Baptist Church Frederick where she worked as a custodian and with the Kitchen Angels for many years. Doris enjoyed being with her grandchildren, growing flowers, especially the roses, and keeping house. In addition to her husband she is survived by a son Harry L. Brittain III, his wife Pam, grandson Michael Luck, granddaughter Leann Elizabeth and a great grandson Michael Luck Jr. each of Philadelphia, PA. and a brother Robert Castle and his wife Annie of Bridgeville, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her Mother Isabel Long, her adapted Mother & Father Albert and Anna Boxall of Buffalo, NY and Frederick.

Special mention of Doris friends in the Adult Departments of First Baptist Church for their love and care and Hospice of Frederick County, especially Geoffrey Littrell & Sarah Conway, Jodi Gerber and the nurses at Kline House for their professional loving care during her last days. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the church. The Rev. Dr. Larry Eubanks and Rev. Burnis Barrett, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.
