William (Bill) Dorsey

Mr. William L. (Bill) Dorsey of Cascade, formerly of Frederick, died on Saturday, October 22, 2011 in his home. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances (Anderson) Dorsey.

Born July 20, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Nathan A. Dorsey and Willena L. (Holloway) Dorsey.

He moved to Frederick when he was a year old, where he grew up and had many friends. In 2006, he moved to PenMar, where he built his home. Bill was a carpenter by trade, and retired in 2006.

He was a member of the FSK American Legion, Duquesne Drag Team and A.Co.1/115th INF 29th INF Div. He loved to fish and hunt and was known for his turtle soup.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two children, Darrell S. Minnick and wife, Sarah; and Misty H. Buhrman and husband, Troy; and four grandchildren, Curtis W. Dorsey, Samantha A. Buhrman, Hannah A. Minnick, and Luke A. Minnick.

He also is survived by four brothers, Robert (Bobby) Dorsey and wife, Libby; Ronald (Ronnie) Dorsey and wife, Donna; Earl (Gene) Dorsey and wife, Mary; and Leslie Dorsey; a sister-in-law, Vonnie Crum and her husband, Doug; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew, David Dorsey.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Davis of Jesus Alive Ministries, Waynesboro, PA.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
