Mrs. Joan Ann Marrone, 79, of Frederick and formerly of Middletown, died on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of James G. "Jerry' Marrone, Sr. Born in Frederick, on July 22, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Butler Troxell. She was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1948 and was employed by the C & P Telephone Company as an operator for 10 years. Joan also worked as a receptionist for both Dr. James and Richard Marrone, DDS, of Frederick. Joan was active with Middletown Valley Athletic Association and was a life member of the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary Post # 9. Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Cindy Pistolas and husband Steve, of New Jersey, Jerry Marrone, Jr., and wife Tammy, of Middletown and Rick Marrone and wife Rebecca, of Frederick, one sister, Sharon Rudy and husband Willard, of Middletown, seven grandchildren, Melanie Pistolas Martin and husband Nate, of New Jersey, Nick, Luke and Elena Marrone, of Middletown, and Daniel, Austin and Catherine Marrone, of Frederick. She will also be fondly remembered by her several nieces, nephews and brother-in-law, Robert Marrone and wife Cathy, of Frederick. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 12, 2011, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Susan R. Halse, pastor of Middletown United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. Pallbearers will be; Nick Marrone, Daniel Marrone, Luke Marrone, Austin Marrone, Nate Martin and Sean Schubel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Angel Fund at Frederick Memorial Hospital, 400 West Seventh Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
