Gary Charles Papuchis, Md

Gary Charles Papuchis, age 52, a cherished Cardiologist of Hagerstown, MD and a resident of Myersville, MD went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 17, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband for 27 years of Donna Callan Papuchis. Born on June 13, 1958 in Washington DC, he was the son of Charles J. Papuchis and the late Stella K. Papuchis.

Gary graduated in 1976 from John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, MD. He received his B.S. from George Washington University in 1980 with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Medical degree from the University of Maryland Medical System, Baltimore, MD in 1984, Cum Laude. He became Board Certified in Cardiology in 1989, and started his practice in Hagerstown, MD up until April of 2010.

He loved his gardens, and enjoyed wine, cycling, playing with his dogs and spending time with his family and many friends.

In addition to his loving wife and father he is survived by his three children, Daniel Joseph Papuchis of Frederick, MD, Steven Michael Papuchis of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Kathryn Ryan Papuchis of Myersville, MD. He is also survived by his brother John Papuchis and wife Wendy of Gaithersburg, MD and his father's current wife Katherine D. Papuchis of Silver Spring, MD and sister-in-laws Ruth Papuchis, Cynthia Callan Ellenore Callan, Mary Cavaness, Sherri Callan and Erin Callan, brother-in-laws Paul Callan, Patrick Callan, William Callan, Joseph Callan and Donald Cavaness. He is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will received friends & family on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 3 to 5 & from 7 to 9 PM at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, Maryland 21769 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in honor of the life of Gary Papuchis on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10 AM. Officiating clergy will be Rev. J. Kevin Farmer and Rev. Msgr. Robert Jaskot. The interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Frederick.
