Dr. Henry Vincent "Harry" Chase, 90, passed away Sunday morning after a lengthy illness at Somerford Place, Frederick. Dr. Chase was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Anna Margaret Chase on September 30, 2011. Born in Baltimore on November 13, 1922, Dr. Chase was the son of Harry Thomas Chase and Catherine Brady Chase. The last of his immediate family, Dr. Chase was predeceased by sisters Helen LePine, Mt. Holyoke, Massachusetts as well as Catherine Amato and Ellen Zanetti of Baltimore. Dr. Chase was a graduate of Mt. Saint Joseph High School, Loyola University and the University of Maryland Medical School. He interned and served his residency at Mercy Hospital, Baltimore and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Chase was a Navy veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Specializing in Internal Medicine, Dr. Chase was inducted into the American College of Physicians in 1963. During his career practicing in Frederick Dr. Chase partnered with Dr. Edward P. Thomas, Dr. A.A. Pearre Sr., and Dr. Richard C. Reynolds. He was a founding partner of Internal Medicine Associates. An active sports enthusiast his entire life, Dr. Chase captained his high school and college soccer teams. He also played for the first professional soccer club established in the United States that was sponsored by the Baltimore News-American newspaper. With his children and grandchildren, Dr. Chase enjoyed fishing and playing tennis. Dr. Chase is survived by: Henry Vincent Chase Jr. and wife Sarah McHenry Chase; grandchildren Cali Chase, Henry V. Chase, III and Taylor Chase of Myersville, Maryland. Thomas Vinton Chase and wife Amy Benton Chase; grandchildren Vincent Young Chase, Lauren Clark and husband Michael Clark, great-grandchildren Gabriel Chase, Liam Chase, Lilly Clark, Eli Clark and step-children Hana Lewis, Skyler Lewis and Chloe Lewis. Anne Handran Hicks and husband Donald Hicks; grandchildren Michael Keeley, Erin Keeley and Patrick Keeley of Ellicott City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services and interment will be private.
