William Barrett Shook

William “Bill” Barrett Shook, 74, of Hancock, MD, passed at the Martinsburg Veterans Hospital on Tuesday December 10, 2024. Born in Frederick on August 20, 1950 he was the son of the  late Roscoe Howard and Kathleen (Metzer) Shook.

Bill owned and operated Shook Excavating and Hauling for over 15 years. He also proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. Bill was a member of the Redman’s club and the American Legion. He will be most remembered for his jokes and quick wit.

Bill is survived by his son Everest Shook (Jennifer), his sister Kathy Firor (David), his grand sons Kolton and Kyle Shook, his nieces Erin, Emily, and Georgia, his trusted companion Sweetie, and his great niece and nephews.

Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Monday December 16, 2024, from 12:30pm until the start of the funeral service at 1:30pm, Interment to follow at St. Luke's Cemetery, Feageville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
