William Michael Rentzell

William Michael Rentzell, 77, of Hagerstown, MD passed on March 22, 2024. He was born on July 26, 1946, in Frederick, MD to the late Carl Sr. and Hazell Rentzell.

A Frederick High School graduate, Mike served as a Staff Sergeant for the US Army Reserves in the 558th Signal Company from 1963-1987. He was in the electrical trade at Crum Electric and then the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI).

Throughout their 39 years of marriage, Mike and Phyllis traveled extensively. Mike loved animals and nature of all kinds and was a faithful contributor to many charities. He was devoted to his wife, Phyllis, and faithfully supported and assisted her in her many community activities until her passing in 2010.

He is survived by his only child, William "Chip" Rentzell (Katharyn), grandsons Cody, Garrett and Nathaniel and leaves behind a large group of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Phyllis (Smith) Rentzell, his sister Catherine Potts and brother Carl Rentzell, Jr.

Family will receive friends at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD, on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. A celebration of Life will begin at 1 P.M. Interment immediately following in Clustered Spires Cemetery.
