William Richard Brown

William Richard Brown, 80, of Adamstown, MD, died Saturday November 9 in Hospice Care at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born July 2, 1939 in Cumberland, MD. he was the son of Harold R. Brown and Vada Mills Brown. He was the husband of Regina (Jeanne) Eichner Brown for 59 years.

Bill graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, MD in 1957 and Frostburg State College in 1961. He was granted a Science Foundation Scholarship to the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado school year 1964/65 and received a master’s degree in math and science. He was employed by the Montgomery County Schools for 30 years as a teacher and administrator.

Bill enjoyed golfing and was an avid bowler. As a bowler he was presented an award for bowling 25 years in the national bowling tournaments. His biggest joy was his toy train collection, a hobby he had since early childhood. He was a member of the National and Local Train Collectors Association.

Bill was an active member of the Frederick Elks #684 for 23 years where he served as trustee and helped run the evening Bingo for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne, daughter Karen Finley, a son William Brown and fiancé Rhonda Sennett, his son in law John Finley, his sister Beverly Strelau and husband Ed, a niece Kris and a nephew Jim, and two special grandsons, Matthew and Luke Finley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to Hospice of Frederick, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD, 21702 and the Frederick Elks #684, 289 Willowdale Drive, Frederick, MD, 21702.

Viewing will be at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD on Wednesday, November 13 from 6pm to 8pm, and Thursday  November 14, 10am to 11am with service at 11AM. Burial will be in the Jefferson Methodist Church Cemetery in Jefferson, MD.
