Wilbur L. Morgan

Unexpectedly, on April 7, 2023, Wilbur L. Morgan, age 83, of Martinsburg, WV, went home to be with the Lord. He was born in Frederick, MD on January 31, 1940 and is the son of late John C. Morgan, Sr. and Catherine L Phillips - Morgan. Wilbur attended West Frederick Junior High School and enlisted in the US Navy in 1966 and retired from the Navy in 1991 as a Boatswain's Mate. After his retirement from the US Navy he worked at Fort Detrick as a member of the Base Police Dept. Wilbur loved to go to Virginia Beach and also enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, his cats, eating and family gatherings. He had a special bond with his brother, sisters and daughter and talked with them almost every day on the phone. Wilbur is survived by his sister Connie Foland, Doris Poplin, brother John Morgan, daughters Cathy Pederson, grandchildren Jason Atkins, Steve Atkins and Joseph Marion. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Betty J. Morgan, siblings Diane Marshburn and James Morgan and daughters Devena Atkins and Mary Marion. Family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4 - 7 P.M. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Interment immediately following at Oak Hill Cemetery, Woodsboro, MD.
