Wayne Dyer Braly

Wayne Braly, 86, passed away on January 1, 2023, in Frederick, MD. Mr. Braly was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he joined the Chattanooga City Police Department, where he became the first college graduate on the force. He retired after 32 years of service at the rank of Major. He loved opera and classical music and was a strong supporter of these arts. Mr. Braly also enjoyed gardening, reading, dogs, and nature. He was a strong, silent man who did not suffer fools gladly.

Mr. Braly’s greatest pride was his family, and after retirement, he moved to Frederick, MD to be close to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Skiles), his daughters, Linda Braly (Kevin Wilson) and Laura Cochran (Scott), and his grandchildren, Zia Wilson and Caroline, Landry, and Donovan Cochran.

He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family and Verdi’s Aida. He and his dry wit will be missed.
