Thomas James Anderson

Thomas James Anderson passed peacefully with family at his side the morning of August 27, 2022.

Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, traveling, going to concerts, the theater, the beach and watching sports. However, he often remarked that the best years of his life were those coaching his children’s sports teams.

Tom lived in Walkersville, MD for over 30 years, working at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments in Columbia, MD until retiring as a General Manager in 2017. He graduated from North Central College in Naperville, IL, with a degree in accounting, attending night school while supporting his young family. Later he pursued a master’s degree at Hood College in Frederick, MD. He attended high school in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Upper St. Clair High School.

Born October 25, 1956, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of James and Iris Anderson. He was the husband of Ysabel Suarez for 7 years.

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by his two sons, Justin and Wesley (Audrey Anderson) and daughter Carrie Frances Anderson (John Poole) as well as stepdaughters Susana Korolevich Hayes, Lauren Korolevich Longshore (Bryan Longshore) and Candice Korolevich (Joseph Geisbert).

This blended family provided Tom with 13 grandchildren, each of whom he dearly loved:  Cassidy, Eli, and Lilly Anderson; Colton Hendricksen and Slade Anderson; Owen, Austin and Cameron Poole; Madison Hayes; Connor and Mackenzie Longshore; and  Brayden and Briana Geisbert.

Also surviving are his brother Mark Anderson (Carrie Anderson), nephews Kiel and Casey, and family members and friends throughout the United States and in Canada.

The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St, Frederick, MD at 10:00 am on October 25, 2022, with the service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
