Stefanos “Steve” Panayiotis Petropouleas, 69, of Germantown, MD, passed on December 8, 2022 at Holy Cross Hospital. Born in Poliana, Greece on March 2, 1953 to the late Panayiotis and Kyriaki (nee Morekeas) Petropouleas. He was the beloved husband to Cheri Petropouleas.
Having immigrated to America in 1967 as a teenager, he started his career in the restaurant business as a dish washer. He would go on to eventually own several restaurants, most recently Mountain View Diners in Frederick, MD and Charles Town, WV. During his many years as a restaurateur, he made many friends and touched the lives of those around him. He always enjoyed a good conversation with his customers.
Steve also enjoyed trips to the beach, playing Monday night poker, and a passion for cooking. He was a Pittsburg Steelers fan and loved dogs. He will be most remembered for the love he had for his family, especially his grand daughters.
In addition to his wife he is survived by, his children; Chad Petropouleas (Hilary) and Cristi Rice (David), his beloved granddaughters Rosalynne and Violet Petropouleas, his sisters Voula Vasiliou and Rosalia Menodakos, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings Ilias and George Petropouleas.
Family and friends can gather at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm. A funeral service will be held at the Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 West 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Friday December 16, 2022 at 11am. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Steve’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023
