Shirley Utt

Shirley Mae Utt, age 90, formally of Wilmington, Delaware and a resident of Village Crossing Assisted Living in Frederick, Maryland died on Saturday, March 29th peacefully in her sleep.

Born May 25, 1934, in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Paul E. and Mary P. Utt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother William E. Utt and his wife Caroline L. Utt.

Shirley was a life-long lover of all animals with a special soft spot for her cats over the years. She was hard to miss in Wilmington driving her bright red Mercedes convertible wearing one of her many hats. During her time at Village Crossing, Shirley continued to wear her beloved hats, garnering compliments from fellow residents and facility staff. Her fun loving and spirited personality shown through until the end.

She is survived by her nephews William P. Utt and wife Carolyn of Houston, Texas; James G. Utt of Bethesda, Maryland; Alexander L. Utt and wife Lisha of Frederick, Maryland; and Paul W. Utt and wife Anne of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16th at Unity Washington Cemetery, Hurlock, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Delaware Humane Association Wilmington, Delaware.
