Shirley Virginia Moxley

Shirley Virginia Moxley, 87, of Urbana, MD passed into heaven on Friday, November 3, 2023. Born on April 3, 1936 to the late Jesse and Ernestine Rippeon. she was the Wife of the late Robert “Bob” Moxley.

Shirley spent her adult life in Urbana, MD working as a homemaker and Mom along with many years of volunteer work as a Life member of the Urbana Ladies Auxiliary, The Urbana Volunteer Fire and Rescue company and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Giesler Main and son-in-law John and granddaughter, Rachel Main. Three stepchildren Gina Orr, Tania Watkins and AJ Moxley and their families. Sister, Connie Magers and husband Bill and Brother-in-law , Jerry Seal. Many loved nieces and nephews and lifelong friends Gloria McFadyen, Andy and Jill Main and Michael and Cindy Brandenburg. She is predeceased by Sisters, Peggy Brandenburg and Brenda Seal,.Brother-in-law Ira Brandenburg and Nieces, Sharon White, Belinda Seal and Nephew, Jeremy Magers.

Shirley enjoyed being with family and friends, traveling to nearby Lancaster County and other destinations with the Urbana Travel Club.

She expressed a love for children, cats and caring for and decorating her home.

A heartfelt “Thank you” to the staff of Buckingham’s Choice who provided wonderful care and dignity throughout her journey with dementia.

Family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701 on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10am. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Urbana Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church or Ijamsville United Methodist Church.
