Shawn Patrick Whalen

Shawn Patrick Whalen, Sr., 56, of Smithsburg, MD passed away on March 16, 2023. Born July 17, 1966, in Baltimore, MD, Shawn had a larger than life personality and loved his family. He had many friends and touched many lives over the years, holding his friends, his co-workers and his Masonic brothers in high regard. He loved them and he respected them. Shawn was a caring and generous person with a heart of gold. Shawn was loved by so many and he will be sorely missed. Shawn enjoyed sports, more specifically baseball, he loved the Baltimore Orioles, and salt water fishing. Shawn especially loved his weekends with his wife, Cindy. They spent hours in their kitchen cooking and Shawn was always adding something new to the upcoming week’s menu. Shawn loved to travel and enjoyed planning their next excursion. Preceded in death by his father, Marion Whalen, Shawn leaves behind his wife, Cindy Whalen, his four children Shawn P. (Meagan) Whalen, Jr., Brittany Whalen Sheets, Jamie Whalen and James (Alexandria) Whalen; two step sons, Matthew (Ashton) Kirby and Michael Kirby (fiancée Krissa Tellef). Shawn also had three grandchildren, Tyler, Symphony and Mylah. In addition, Shawn also leaves behind his mother, Rita Schaefer, his sister, Kathleen (Jeff) Martin, his brother, Charles (Tina) Price and brother, William Price, nephew Nicholas (Nickol) Martin, and nieces Natalie Martin and Alexandria Price. A memorial/celebration of life ceremony will be announced at a later date.
