Ronald E. Grove

Mr. Ronald E. Grove, 78, of Boonsboro passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Born February 20, 1944 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Clyde and Madeline (Staub) Grove.

In his earlier years Ronald was employed by Supreme Block Company in Frederick. He then worked for Shafer, Troxell and Howe, Inc. as a service technician until his retirement in 2012 after nearly 30 years of service. He loved to cook, shoot pool, feed the birds and tend to his vegetable and flower  gardens. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and had a wealth of knowledge when it came to fixing anything mechanical. He had an entrepreneurial side and could be found in his younger years growing and selling sweet corn, Christmas trees and wreaths. Ronnie was always looking for ways to improve processes and make things easier and faster. He could often be found repairing or tinkering with equipment in his garage and always believed in fixing things himself. He also enjoyed working at his property in Pennsylvania where he would start his fruit tree seedlings, mow and just enjoy caring for his land. Ronnie thoroughly enjoyed the company of his companion dog; Ping for 13 years. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son; Alan Grove (Diane), grandchildren; Brandon Vaughn (Paula McCarren), Megan Grove, Kyle Grove (Calandra) and Caleb Grove (Lindsey Shank), great-grandchildren; Brody Grove, Asher Uchima and Maeve Grove, brothers; Phil Grove (Sandy), Dave Grove (Gloria) and John Grove (Patti), numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be at 11am, on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local humane society or animal rescue in his honor.
