Robert “Bob” L. Sacoman, 81, of Frederick, MD passed away following a brief illness on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Bob was born on August 10, 1942 in Las Vegas, NM. He attended NM Highlands University prior to enlisting in the Army serving for four years and transitioning into the Navy where he retired with honors in 1971.
He worked for the federal government for many years and retired after 23 years from the Department of Labor under the Veterans’ Employment and Training Services (VETS). He then worked as an interpreter for Frederick County Public Schools before joining Frederick County Workforce Services as the Hispanic employment specialist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles P. and Josephine (Martinez) Sacoman, four brothers; Charles, Joseph, Lucas, and Alfonso and a sister, Pauline. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma; a daughter Dana and husband Stephen Cromwell of New Market, MD, son Robert and wife Veronica of Seattle, WA, son Wayne of Fort Morgan, CO; a sister, Celsa (Sacoman) Rubio of Las Vegas, NM; brothers, Alfred Sacoman and wife Gloria of Harrisburg, PA, William Sacoman and wife Mary of Denver, CO ; several grandchildren, a great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews along with other loved family members and close friends.
He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend. His favorite pastime was being with family and friends, reading, keeping up with the news, model airplane building, and singing. He sang with the Choral Arts Society of Frederick for several years where he performed with his favorite doo wop group.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm. The service will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church located at 131 W 2nd St. Frederick, MD. A private Interment Service will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery.
