Robert Ross Hankey

Robert Ross Hankey passed away on fRIday, April 19th, 2024, at his home in Thurmont, MD. He was born in Frederick, MD on August 3rd,1961. He was the youngest child of the late Richard Hull Hankey and Joan Virginia Hankey.

Rob was the third-generation owner of Hankey's Radio Inc. Located in Frederick MD, proudly serving the Frederick community and surrounding areas since 1922. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Creagerstown, MD.

Rob is survived by wife Rebecca Hankey, sister Laurel Mitchell and husband Ed Mitchell, children Joshua Hankey and wife Feleisa Hankey, Justin Hankey and wife Brittany Hankey, Caitlin Hankey, Bailey Kesteven and husband Thomas Kesteven. Grandchildren, Cole, Isaac, Hudson, Arianna, Aubrey, Adalyn, Alazar, Zada, Maddox, Micah, and Axel, neice Amelia Slagle and husband Brian Slagle, nephew Brent Mitchell and wife Elizabeth Mitchell. He is preceded in death by Richard and Joan Hankey, and Marley Zimmerman.

Rob will be remembered for his generosity, a fondness for cars and motorcycles, and especially his quick wit.

The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD, on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 8619 Blacks Mill Road, Creagerstown, MD, on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Creagerstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
