Robert Earl Boyer

On December 27, 2024, Robert Earl Boyer, age 83, passed at Frederick Health Hospital. Robert was born in Baltimore, MD and was the son of Richard E. Smith and Bessye Hough - Smith.

Bob graduated from Wheaton High School in 1959 and From University of Maryland in 1964. He began his teaching English in Montgomery County Schools in 1964 and continued until 1998. After retiring from Montgomery County Schools, Bob began to teach at St. John's Prospect Hall and became Academic Dean. He fully retired in 2007.

On Friday, December 20, 2024, Bob and his loving wife Jo Anne Coady - Boyer celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Bob served as a president of the AARP local chapter, his Home Owner's Association and of the Francis Scott Key Lions Club. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Public Schools Retirees Association and the faith community of The Pastorate of St. Francis - St. Mary & Holy Family Catholic Church. Bob was an avid reader and loved being with his family and was an avid supporter at his sons and grandchildren's sporting events.

In addition to his wife Jo Anne, Bob is survived by his sons, Robert Coady Boyer and Michael Gregory Boyer, Grandchildren, Coady Lee Boyer and Brianna Paige Boyer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Donald Boyer.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff members of the Memory Care Unit at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center.

A viewing will be held at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A. 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm.
