Rebecca Ann Smith

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Smith, age 73, died November 22, 2022 at home with her family by her side in Frederick, MD.

She was born April 18, 1949, in Frederick, MD to Herbert Sawyer Hahn, Jr. and Jane Hahn Thompson.

Becky is survived by her husband, Rodney Alan Smith; her mother, Jane Hahn Thompson;  her son and his wife, Justin Alan and Katie Schroeder Smith; her 3 grandchildren, Sophia Hahnna Smith, Scarlett Rebecca Smith, and Sawyer Shorey Smith; her brother, Michael Sawyer Hahn (Jennifer); her step-sisters and step-brothers, Katie Thompson Kahan, Vicki Thompson Leizear, Richard Thompson, and John Thompson; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Jean Wastler; her nieces, Nikki Snook Martin (Amos) and Natalie Snook Scolnick and their families; her nephew, Mylz Sawyer Hahn; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Shyra Jane Hahn; her father, the late Herbert Sawyer Hahn, Jr.; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Irene Smith, and her aunt, Barbara Ann Koogle.

Becky graduated from Frederick High School in 1967. She also attended Frederick Community College.  Becky lived in Taiwan for a year after marrying Rodney, her husband of nearly 53 years, who was in the Air Force. While there, she taught English to local children. She held many jobs and positions over the years, including anesthesia tech, dental assistant and most recently office manager at Radcliffe Realty. However, her most treasured time was spent raising her son Justin and caring for her three grandchildren. Becky also loved to spend time with her friends and family and could be found hanging out at the American Legion, playing trivia, watching or attending sporting events with her husband, and she was an avid reader.

The family will receive friends between 1-2 pm followed by a memorial service on Thursday, December 1 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E Church St, Frederick, MD 21701.
