Ramona Ann Yanike

Ramona Yanike of Frederick, MD died on January 23, 2025. Born in Genoa, Nebraska on February 15, 1925, she was the first daughter of Anders and Fern (Carstenson) Backman.

She married Ralph J. Yanike and raised two children, then moved from Lincoln, NE to Frederick, MD in 1965.

Ralph preceded her in death in 1988. She was also predeceased by her sister Iola Keller, her brother Gene Backman and her sister Audrey Bartholome.

Ramona was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick and a member of the Friendly Circle class. She was a member of the Rainbow Belles, past Cloverhill Homemakers Club, Honors Class, Inc., and the Woodsboro Dance Club. She loved to dance with her special friend, Ray Wilkison, who predeceased her in 2020. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Nusbaum, and son, Jack Yanike; grandchildren Kimberly, Nusbaum, Anders Yanike and wife Lauren, Luke Yanike and wife Kim; great grandchildren Gwyneth, Joseph, Elijah, Josie, Isaac, and Evan. She loved to keep in touch with her extended family and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church Street on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 10am to 11am. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, NE. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
