Penny Roen

Mrs. Mary Pennington "Penny" Roen, age 75, of Frederick, formerly of St Petersburg, FL, passed away September 21, 2024. She was the loving wife of William "Bill" Roen for 43 years.

Born October 29, 1948, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George and Louise Johnston. She was a graduate of Maryvale Preparatory School in Lutherville, MD and Trinity College in Washington D.C..

After graduating, she was a Statistical Analyst for the Social Security Administration and later a Real Estate Agent.

She worked tirelessly to support the churches where her husband served as Pastor in Maryland, Florida and Georgia. She was involved in countless social justice projects and organizations both at home and abroad in Haiti. Every aspect of her life was informed by compassion and a deep and abiding Christian faith.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Paul Roen and wife Margo and Elisabeth Roen, grandson, Clayton Roen, sisters, Marilou Phelan and husband Billy and Cindy Lawson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on October 19th, 2024 at All Saints Episcopal Church 106 W. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Penny's name to Hurricane Helene relief.
