Mr. Norman “Wayne” Lininger, 80, of Ijamsville left his earthly body and flew with the angels on Monday, January 20, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Wayne was born on October 9, 1944 in Frederick Md to the late William Michael Lininger, Sr. and Louise Lininger Duvall. He was raised by the late Martha and Norman Sier, better known as Aunt Marth and Uncle Buddy. He was also the beloved grandson of the late Nettie Sier.
He married the late JoAnn E. (neé Kennedy) Lininger and settled in Feagaville, Md where they raised two daughters. Wayne treasured his family that he built with JoAnn. He had strong values, which allowed him to never meet a stranger. Wayne also blessed all with his passion for playing guitar and singing bluegrass and gospel music.
Wayne spent 4 decades driving a tractor trailer. He retired from Martin Brower in 2009. In 2010, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Wayne fought courageously for 15 years after his diagnosis. All who knew Wayne were honored to see the true definition of love, faith, and family. All were amazed to see the raw power and strength of human will and grit through Wayne.
Wayne is survived by daughters Margaret “Marlaine” Lininger and Bobbie Jo Allen and her husband Chris; granddaughters Nicole Lockhoff and her husband Jonathan and Jeana Allen and her boyfriend Warren Duvall; sisters Patsy Hoffman and Pam Weddle and her husband Denny; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne was preceded in death by his brother William M. Lininger, Jr. and sisters Faye Lorraine (at birth), Sharon Huff, Bonnie Virts, Brenda Brashears and half sister Vickie Duvall.
