Mrs. Minnie U. Main, 98, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Country Meadows – Frederick. She was the loving wife of the late Nelson T. Main, Sr.
Born October 30, 1925, near Drake, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Reinhold and Margaretha Uhlich. Minnie was the seventh of seven children. Minnie left North Dakota upon high school graduation for Washington State where she worked for Western Union. That is where she met the love of her life on a dance floor; Nelson was returning from honorably serving his country as a bombardier in the 8 th and 15 th Squadrons during World War II. They returned to Nelson’s hometown and married at Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC) on January 23, 1946.
Minnie was employed by the Ox Fiber Brush Company, Sinclair Oil Company, and the District Court of Frederick. She and Nelson were members of Evangelical Lutheran Church, John R. Webb Post 3285, VFW; Francis Scott Key Post 11, American Legion, and the Frederick Moose Lodge #371, Frederick. Minnie served as treasurer for Frederick American Little League and taught Sunday School at ELC.
Minnie’s greatest treasures were her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was particularly proud of her children and grandchildren. She attended high school and college graduations for all nine of her grandchildren. She especially loved watching them participate in extracurricular activities. Minnie also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, dancing, crocheting, card games, rides in the mountains, and fishing on the Potomac. She was a big Baltimore Oriole fan.
Minnie is survived by her four children: Nelson “Tom” Main, Jr (Linda) of Canton, MI; Tena McDonald (preceded by son-in-law Rick) of Auburn, GA; Wayne Main (Cheryl) of Middletown and Ron Main (Denise) of Frederick; grandchildren Mark and Molly Main of Canton, Lacey McDonald Campbell (Zach) of Jane Lew, WV, Kelley McDonald and Skot Selby of Denton, TX, Ty Main (Danielle), ) Lindsey Arthur (Justin) and Chase Main (Emily) of Myersville, Zach Main of Arlington and Sami Main of Frederick; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Muldoon (James) of Frederick and Dorothy Grimes (Thomas) of West Friendship; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, Nov 27 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street, Frederick, with her Pastor Paul Baglyos officiating.
