Michael David Smith, 75, of Myersville, passed away peacefully Friday April 23 rd , surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his father Reno Smith, mother Margaret Smith, and brother Dennis Smith. He is survived by his loving partner Steven Ducham, 5 loving children and their spouses, Rebecca Herdering and Dave Bullock of West Virginia, Amy Anderson and JR Anderson of Delaware, David Smith and Michelle Smith of Maryland, Kenny Smith and Lisa Smith of New York, and Kate Sloan and Steve Sloan of Maine, his sister Joanne and husband Bucky Gardner of Maryland, his brother Ronald and wife Mary Jane Smith of Maryland, his sister Susan McDonnell of Pennsylvania, his sister Melinda and husband Andy Kay of Maryland, his sister Patty and husband Bruce Gay of Maryland, his sister Kathy Penney of Pennsylvania,  many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren.

From a young age, Michael developed a love for all things music, movies, and cameras. He delighted in playing drums, performing in skits with his friends, and filming his siblings in elaborate movies or silly antics. As a teenager he fell in love with trains, riding across the country, filming trains in the local region, and creating elaborate train layouts from the plywood up. One of his proudest accomplishments was a layout he created that was featured on the cover of O Gauge Magazine.

Above all, Michael had so much love for his family. His entire extended family was so important to him. He was always making something special for someone that he loved in the beautiful, artistic way that only he could. He had a way of making each person in his family feel like they were the most important person to him. His grandchildren have many fond memories of movie nights and being spoiled with treats, video chats with silly filters, and many, many fun times. He loved to laugh, and make people laugh, and he will be missed dearly by everyone who’s lives he touched.
