Mary Louise Willard

Mrs. Mary Louise Roderick Willard, 98, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Country Meadows. She was the wife of the late Roland Eugene Willard, Sr. They were married for 63 years. Born near Monrovia on January 8, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Harry McComas and Eula Irene Norwood Roderick.
She had attended school in Frederick County and graduated from Frederick High School Class of 1940. She had worked a few years at Price Electric. Married her husband Roland on December 31, 1942 and they lived on Thurston road. Together they operated a small Grocery Store in Urbana on route 80.
A life long and devoted member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, where she taught children's Sunday School for several years, a devoted worker at the Vacation Bible School, served the church on various committees with the Women's Fellowship. A long time member of Fahrney Keedy Auxiliary and also a faithful member of the Urbana Homemakers. For many years she was a baby sitter for her neighbors and many grandchildren.
Surviving are her two sons, Larry M. Willard and wife Janice of Shepherdstown, WV and Roland E. Willard, Jr., of Frederick, one sister, Bernice L. Cline and sister-in-laws, Charlotte Roderick and Rose Marie Willard Meyers, all of Frederick, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two bothers, William H. and Harry W. Roderick, four sisters, Myrtle Burdette, Fern Geisbert, Madelyn Smith and Ruby Roderick.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren. Rev. Melissa Barnes and Rev, Leo Barnes, will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
