Mary Marie Smith

Mrs. Mary Marie "Nanny" Bond Smith, 92, of Union Bridge, passed away on Tuesday, January 7th 2020, at home. Born on May 6, 1927 in Johnsville, she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. and Ruth Koontz Bond. She was the wife of 46 years to the late Floyd S. "Lucky" Smith, who died on March 17, 1996.She had worked for 10 years at the Ox Fibre Brush Company and many years as a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Marie attended the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a member of the Beaver Dam Church of the Brethren, the AARP and the Humane Society of the United States.Marie was well known for her amazing angel food cakes and enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved eating at Mountain Gate with her family, watching the Orioles, Nationals, Redskins and was a die hard Ravens fan. She also loved watching NASCAR with her forever favorite driver being Dale, Jr.Surviving are her children:Larry G. Bond and wife Charlene of Middleburg, Ronnie W. Smith and wife Carol of Mt. Pleasant, Donnie K. Smith and wife Kay of Braddock Heights, Randy C. "Judge" Smith and Sandy J. Smith, with whom she had lived with, and Terri L. Cross and husband Tony of Boonsboro; grandchildren: Lauren and Jason Bond, Krystel Williams, whom she raised and Nick Constantine, Nikki Mock and Mike, Joey and Dylan Salavics, Shelby and Haley Smith and Lily Cross; three precious great granddaughters, Alyssa and Makyla DeVries and Wren Mock, her sister, Shirley Houck and husband Richard of Union Bridge, sister-in-law, Ruth Bond of VA, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be sadly missed by special neighbors and good friends, Laura and Mike Jacobs, Ashleigh, Catlin and Gary and Kathy Bussard. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Bond.The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, January 13, 2020, at the funeral home. Pastor Richard Baker, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
