Mary Alice Gearinger Hammond

Mary Alice Gearinger Hammond, 95, died January 25, 2023.  She was the wife of the late Paul B. Hammond, Jr. who died August 3, 1973.
Born July 3, 1927, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Edward Russell and Edith Grace Burrier Gearinger.

Surviving are three children:  James E. Hammond (Judith) of Aiken, SC; Patricia A. Lux (Daniel) of Orrtanna, PA; and John F. Hammond (Marilee) of Canandaigua, NY.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles R. Gearinger and Robert E. Gearinger; her daughter, Susan J. McHenry; her grandson, C. Theodore "Ted" King; and her great grandson, Zachary McH. Hogge. Surviving is her sister, Anna Jane Michael of Walkersville; her son-in-law, J. Patrick McHenry of Liberty Hill, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to Jamie Petrosky, who supported and assisted Mary during her last years and Meg McHenry, who provided a loving hand and a warm heart during Mary's final days.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701.Services will be held on Monday,  February 6, 2023, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Homes, P.A., at 11am with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery afterward.
