Mrs. Mary Evelyn Chandler, 87, of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at her home. She was the wife of the late Benjamin G. Chandler, who died in 1994. Born in Inkster, Michigan on June 18, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Malen E. and Lucille DePlanche' Montney.
Mary had worked as an administrative assistant for the federal Government. She was an active member of Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church and was also an active volunteer with many local organizations. She was a member of the Chesapeake Gem and Mineral Club and active with The Delaplaine Arts Center.
Surviving are her children; Christine L. Chandler, Teresa D. Black and husband David W., Patricia M. Smith and husband Barry A. and Kenneth A. Chandler, one sister, Patricia Cook and husband Gary, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a great grandson, one sister and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 11, 2019, at the church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. Interment will be private. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick, MD.
