We deeply mourn the loss of Marcus Leon Gann, who was born on December 6, 1945, in Waxahachie, Texas.
Marcus was a beloved husband to Olivia Lambert Gann, with whom, he shared nearly 56 years of happiness. They were married in Fort Worth, Texas. They had two sons, Marcus, Jr. (Marc) and Matthew. Marcus is survived by his spouse, Olivia, his son Marc and husband Joey, his son Matthew and wife Courtney and their two children, Charlie and Catherine.
Marcus completed his high school education from Polytechnic Senior High School, Fort Worth, Texas in 1964. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where he pursued an engineering degree. Marcus held several aeronautical engineering positions including work with NASA’s space shuttle program. He then accepted a leadership role at Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia, where he retired after more than 30 years of service. In addition, he was an avid birder and talented photographer. He enjoyed travelling to the National Parks and researching the genealogy of his French Huguenot family.
Marcus was a man of great humility, kindness, and integrity. He touched the lives of numerous people and earned their respect and admiration. He had a vibrant personality and was loved by all who knew him.
As we say goodbye to Marcus, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology or LAUGHH Foundation
A special social event to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
