Louise Dayhoff Bennett, 98, of Greencastle, PA passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019. Born on August 11, 1920 in Dickerson, MD she was the daughter of the late Wilford and Margaret Dayhoff. She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Bennett they were married on December 8, 1964.
Louise was a Graduate from the Frederick Memorial Hospital Nursing program. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army in the Nursing Corps from March of 1943 to December of 1945. She served in the 54th Evacuation Mobile Hospital in New Guinea and the South West Pacific Theatre.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Porterfield and husband David of Greencastle, PA, Grandchildren Roman and Alex Porterfield. She was preceded in death by daughter Candace Clopper, siblings Douglas A. Dayhoff, Margaret D. Downs, Robert T. Dayhoff, Marion B. “Buzz” Dayhoff, and W. Ellis Dayhoff, Jr. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews especially great-niece Corrine Downs and husband Kenny, and great-nephew Jeff Downs who she shared a special bond with.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 1 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
