Lester Cornelius Simmons Sr.

Mr. Lester C. Simmons Sr., 72, of New Market, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Kline Hospice House. He was the husband of Peggy Simmons.

Born Oct. 8, 1952 in Frederick, he was the son of the Charles and Elizabeth Simmons.

Lester is survived by his sons, Lester "Les" Simmons Jr. (Christina) and Mac Simmons, grandchildren, Samantha Keith, Zachary Brengle, Dillion Simmons, Madison Huss (Nick), Erica Sprecher (Kyle), Zachery Marley (Brianna), 10 Great-grandchildren, siblings, Charles Simmons (Pam) Marie Hawkins (Harry) and Vivian Poole (Raymond), numerous nieces, nephews and two brother-in-laws Mack Douglas (Doug) and Tommy Milton Sier.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother Charles and Elizabeth Simmons and siblings, Ida Stillions, Patricia Federline and Cynthia Ferrell and daughter-in-law, Lori Simmons.

Lester began to work in 1969 for L.F Inc. He retired in December of 2019 after 50 yrs from L.F Easterday Well Drilling and Well&Pump as a Master well driller in Maryland, Virginia West Virginia, Pennsylvania and DC. He was nationally certified in Well drilling, pump Installation and Geo Thermal. He was Vice President and CEO (company entertainment officer). Lester was in charge of the company fishing charter trips. He loved going out on his boat fishing for the Monster Catfish “The only man that could catch fish in the mud” he also loved fishing in lakes & streams for Trout. Lester loved going on Hunting trips for Deer and Bear especially trips with his nephews, Danny Ferrell and Bry. He also loved the Slot Machines whether it be on the cruises that he went on with his spouse Peggy or at Charlestown Race Track. All in all, he was an outdoorsman that loved camping with his Grand-kids and Great-grand kids.

The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11:00Am, on Friday April 18, 2025. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.  A reception will follow at the Moose Lodge, 828 E. Patrick Street, Frederick, those wishing to bring a dish can drop off at the Moose after 9 AM Friday.
