Joseph Edward Bussard, Jr.

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Edward Bussard Jr., 86, passed away in his home on September 26th, 2022. After a three year battle with pancreatic cancer, he opted for home hospice care so he could remain in his family home of 54 years.

Joe was born on July 11th, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Frederick County. He will be best remembered for his passion for early American jazz, gospel, country and blues. Starting in his teenage years, Joe spent his time hunting for records, and loved nothing more than sharing his collection with other music lovers. Joe not only enjoyed collecting, but started his own record label, “Fonotone Records” with the goal of preserving this almost forgotten era of music.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward Sr. and Viola H Bussard and his wife Esther Mae. He is survived by his only daughter, Susannah, and three granddaughters, Emily, Amanda and Rachel. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Frederick Health Hospice.
