Jonathan Eric Percy

Jonathan Eric Percy, 25, of Frederick, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 24, 2021. Born in Crown Point, Indiana on January 8, 1996 to Eric and Helen Gallagher Percy. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 2014 and studied at Frederick Community College. Jonathan was currently working as a Zamboni driver for the Cabin John Ice Rink.

Jonathan was an Eagle Scout with Troop 1812. The skills he learned in Scouts earned him the nick name “Knot Whisperer.” He was also a trombone player and a founding member of the Oakdale HS Bear Band, and also played with the Mighty Sound of Maryland. Some of his hobbies included graphic design, and video production as well as independent learning of languages including Korean, Russian, German, and French, and he was an avid reader.

Jonathan will be most remembered for his sense of humor and desire to fight for the less fortunate, as well as his genuine care for the well-being of others.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by; his brother Stephen Percy, his grandparents Sandra Percy, Philip Gallagher and Ann Neale; his aunts and uncles: Erin and Shawn Holtzapple, Beth Gallagher, Paul Gallagher and Holly Gallagher, and Kevin Gallagher; and his cousins Terrance Kline, Cordell Kline, and MacLeary “Mac” Gallagher, and numerous extended family. He joins his Grandmother Barbara Gallagher and Grandfather David Percy at the heavenly banquet.

Friends and family may attend a wake on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. A memorial service will be held the following week on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 3pm at the All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 106 West Church Street, Frederick 21701.
