John Robert Levering

Mr. John Robert Levering, 97, of Frederick, died on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Frederick Health Hospital. He was the husband of the late Beulah “Bootie” Winpigler Levering.

Born February 27, 1925, in Frederick where he spent all of his life. John Robert, better known as Bob Levering, was an accountant of the old Eveready Company where the shops are now located on East Street. After retiring from that company, Mr. Levering also worked for several years in the Tax Division of the State of Maryland. Bob also was a very proficient carpenter and helped to build his own home on Meadow Road and helped to build the home of his daughter and son-in-law on Hall Road.

Along with his late wife Beulah, Bob had been an active member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Frederick, where he served as Treasurer for several years. He was a member of the choir along with his late wife.

Bob loved to go fishing with his friends and he was a great lover of planting gardens of Dahlias and vegetables. He loved his pet cats, which he had over the years, and was a great bird watching enthusiast and knew many kinds of birds. Overall, Bob was a great believer in the beauty of nature.

Surviving is his daughter, Sandra Kay Moreland, retired Nurse, and her husband the Rev. Dr. Raymond T. Moreland of Frederick. He was the brother of the late Albert Levering Helen Minnick.

There will be a graveside service celebrating Bob’s life and faith in God’s eternal peace and love on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Those who wish to attend are invited to meet at the Francis Scott Key Chapel (near the cemetery entrance) prior to 1:00 p.m. The funeral will process to the graveside at that time.
