John "Jack" Daly

November 25, 1931 — January 4, 2025

John (Jack) Joseph Daly, 93, of Frederick Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025 at Somerford Assisted Living Center, in Frederick, MD. Born on November 25, 1931 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Leslie and Elsie (Niland) Daly.

For 72 years Jack was wed to his wife Mary Jeanne, who predeceased him by 8 days. Theirs was a true love story, first meeting at a church dance in early high school, and they have been together ever since. We are comforted knowing they are together again in eternal peace. Jack was a loving father, trusted friend, inspiring coach, and devoted Catholic. He is the youngest of seven children – Claire, Leslie Jr., Hope, Charles Richard (Dick), Francis, and Philip, none of whom survived him. He is survived by his four children - Jeannette Marie Rowe (Mike),  Michael Arthur Daly (Jeanne), Robert Christopher Daly (Denise), and Mary Kathleen Crum (Arthur). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jack grew up in Bethesda MD, where he attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School. He then attended St John’s College High School in Washington, DC where he exceled in football and basketball. He was later recognized for his athletic excellence with induction to the St John’s Hall of Fame. He went on to play football at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He spent nearly his entire career working at John L Renshaw, a construction company, where he served as part-owner and Chief Operations Officer. He was an ardent Redskins and Notre Dame fan.

Jack was an active member of St. John the Baptist Church of Silver Spring and co-founded the CYO football program there. He spent many years in retirement in Fenwick Island, DE as a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed coaching, playing golf with a dear set of friends, the beach, and enjoying parties and family celebrations. He truly lived the motto “God, Country, Family, and Friends.” His gentle kindness, fun disposition, and generosity of spirit will always be remembered by all who knew him.
