John Ward "Jack" Adams

January 7, 1998 — November 3, 2023

John Ward "Jack" Adams, cherished son, stepson, grandson, and friend passed away on November 3, 2023. Jack was born in Fairfax, Virginia on January 7, 1998, but he found his true home in Frederick, Maryland, where he spent his formative years and touched the lives of many.

Jack was a proud graduate of Oakdale High School, Class of 2016, where he excelled both on and off the field. His passion for lacrosse and football was evident to all who knew him. Furthering his education at Hood College, Jack graduated in 2022 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Political Science. His dedication to understanding the human mind and political landscape was truly commendable. Jack's pursuit of knowledge didn't end with graduation; he earned his SHRM Certification in 2023, showcasing his commitment to excellence in the field of Human Resources.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Jack's heart held a special place for the state of Arkansas, where he had deep family ties, and many close friends. He attended the University of Arkansas his Freshman year of college, and often traveled back there.

A sports enthusiast through and through, Jack's fervor for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Capitals, and other favorite sports teams was infectious. His encyclopedic knowledge of sports facts was impressive and entertaining to those around him.  Attending games was one of his favorite pastimes, and countless memorable moments were shared with his parents and loved ones at sporting events around the country. When he wasn't traveling to a game, he was watching one.

Music was another one of Jack's great passions.  He particularly enjoyed sharing his love of classic rock with his father, whom he attended many concerts with. His collection of vinyl records was a testament to his appreciation for the artistry of the genre. He would often spend hours listening to his favorite records, while exploring the history and learning as much as he could about the bands and musicians who created them.

Jack and his mother shared a tight bond and had a mutual curiosity for the world around them, which sparked a desire to explore their mutual love of history, politics, travel, sports, coffee, and Mexican food. He delighted in sharing his knowledge with others, and fostering meaningful conversations that left a lasting impact. In pursuit of these interests, Jack, his mother, and step-father travelled nationally and internationally, including various historical sites which were of great interest to Jack. He thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the history around him.

Jack is survived by his parents, James Adams of Haymarket VA, Melissa Hobby Bruckner and Michael Bruckner of West Friendship, MD, and his girlfriend Hailey Williams of Frederick, MD.  He is also fondly remembered by his grandparents, Cecilia Seay, David and Holly Adams, and step-grandparents Allen Seay, and Richard and Renee Bruckner, great uncle Norvell Plowman, uncles and aunts Brent and Kim Hobby, Stacy Poole, Ashley Seay, Lew and Tessa Adams, Amanda and Craig Berry, Lauren Bruckner and Amy Roth, and Elaine and Philip Peek. Jack is also remembered by his many cousins and friends.

Jack is preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Selma Hobby, and his uncle, Gregory Hobby, all of Little Rock, AR.
