Joe Vernon Stone

Mr. Joe Vernon Stone, 84, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Barbara Ann Wills Stone. Born in Feagaville on December 6, 1934, he was a son of the late Glenn Atlee Sr., and Annie Elizabeth Stine Stone.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was retired from NIH, where he worked as a master plumber. He had also worked for Glen Waltz and Klipp Plumbing and Heating. Joe enjoyed woodworking and drawing cartoons.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children; Jeffrey A. Hammond and wife Dawn, of Frederick and Christy Hammond Caruso and husband Kevin, of Franklin Park, NJ, two brothers, Glenn A. Stone, Jr., of Mt. Airy and Maurice H. Stone and wife Linda, of Hagerstown, grandchildren; Joseph, Nicole, Matthew and wife Laura, Katelyn, Alexandra, and great grandchildren, James ,Sophia, Carter and Gianna and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Ann E. Stone and Roger Stone.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Frederick Alliance Church 1631 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. Rev. Richard L. Shell, pastor of the church and Dr. Donald Urey, brother-in-law, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
