Joann Lininger

Mrs. JoAnn Elizabeth Lininger, 76, of Ijamsville, got her wings and went to walk with the angels on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. She was the loving wife of Norman “Wayne” Lininger for 57 years.

Born in Frederick, Maryland on February 26, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Joseph Kennedy Jr and Margaret Elizabeth Kidd Kennedy. She was also the beloved granddaughter of the late Virgie Kidd.

In addition to her husband, she leaves behind daughters Margaret Elaine Lininger of Frederick and Bobbie Jo Allen (Chris) of Ijamsville as well as her two greatest gifts granddaughters, Nicole Elizabeth Allen of Thurmont and Jeana JoAnn Allen of Mount Airy. She also is survived by twin brothers, Terry Kennedy (Darlene) and Jerry Kennedy (Mallory), sisters-in-law, cousins and many nieces and nephews.

JoAnn dedicated her life to being a tireless caregiver to her entire family and her beloved pets. Her dream came true when she became a grandmother. She excelled in fulfilling her granddaughters’ every wish. She was a homebody who was happiest surrounded by her family. In her final days and hours, Wayne was by her side singing hymns and showing us all the meaning of true love.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her brothers Austin Joseph Kennedy, Paul Wayne Kennedy Sr, Charles Dennis Kennedy, stepsisters Sandra Foland and Sherry Springirth, stepmother Elaine Kennedy and her beloved nephew Dennis Kennedy.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 1pm to 4pm, on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Kenney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the funeral home. Rev. Dahl Drenning will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Chris Allen and nephews Stephen Kennedy, Paul Kennedy Jr, Curtis Foland, Chris Kennedy, Brad Kennedy and Jeremy Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will Nicole and Jeana Allen and the late Dennis Kennedy.
