Jerry Mongold passed away May 10th surrounded by his friends and family.
A lifelong resident of Maryland, Jerry was a fervent admirer of Frederick and loved spending time downtown.
After leaving high school, Jerry trained as a drywall contractor, establishing his own company, before switching careers in his late 30s to move into IT, establishing a successful second act as a network engineer.
He approached his career change with the same curiosity, intensity and desire to learn that he applied to other aspects of his life, from investing to playing guitar. Jerry performed in local bands as a young man, and continued his love of music (playing and listening) the rest of his life.
Jerry loved to learn, enjoyed good conversation, pipes, maduro cigars, documentaries, cooking and fine bourbon. He loved his cats, telling Jerry Jokes, Rehoboth Beach and spending time with his friends and family. His intellect, dry humor, sharp wit, empathy and kindness will be missed.
Jerry is survived by his partner, Melissa, his sister Darlene, and brothers Dwight and Lynden. He is also survived by his sister Melody and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Tony and sister AnChilla. He leaves many friends sorely missing him.
