Jack L. Kessell

Mr. Jack L. Kessell, "Happy Jack", of Monrovia, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019.  He was the beloved husband of Rebecca Burdette Kessell for 52 years.    Born February 9, 1947 in Damascus, he was the son of the late Paul and Viola Sherman Kessell of Monrovia. Jack worked for many years as a drywall installer and finisher. He was a former member of the Urbana Fire Department and loved fishing and visiting the beach. He could often be found sitting in his easy chair holding his little dog, Mattie.   In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his children, Wendy Michelle Kessell (Richard Biava) and Jack L. Kessell Jr. (Catherine), grandchildren, Alexandra, Hailey, Nicholas, Kimberley, Olivia, Carter, Jacob, Austin and Lillie Grace, sisters, Jeanne Harner Roswell and Faye Mathias, brother-in-law, Chuck Burdette (Su) sisters-in-law, Ella and Dottie Kessell, numerous nieces and nephews.    Jack was preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald Kessell, Gary Kessell, Earl Kessell, Jim Kessell and Wanda Roswell.   The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am, on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821 Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD 21770.  The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00am in the church.  Reverends Leo and Melissa Barnes will officiate.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address.   Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.
