Irene Elizabeth Hogan

Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Nusbaum Hogan of Frederick, died Friday, April 5, 2019.  She was the wife of the late George J. Hogan Jr. for 57 years.  She was the daughter of the late Alvie C.C. and Lola Irene Stull Nusbaum.  Preceded in death by her son Robert Joseph Hogan and a granddaughter Adrienne Marie Hogan.   Surviving are two daughters Debbie E. McMurray and husband Phil of Massachusetts. and Cathy L. Sherman and husband Mark of Frederick, six grandchildren John J. Hogan of Frederick, Anna L., Laurel E. and Andrew A. Sherman of Frederick and Reid T. and wife Cait and Audrey E. Messinger of Massachusetts, and four Great-Grandchildren.   In her younger years, she was a 4H leader in cooking and sewing, volunteering at the Elks Club for bingo, Citizens Nursing Home, Catholic Daughters, Elizabeth Ministry, and Care Wear.  She enjoyed donating her sewing, craft to the Frederick Memorial Hospital and VA Hospital, Cancer Hospital.  Irene was a lifetime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.   The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm, on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.  The funeral service will be private.  Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later day.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert J. Hogan and George J. Hogan Jr. Scholarship Funds through The Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
