Ibukun Oyetunde Ashamu, a seasoned technology executive, influencer, motivational entrepreneur, and a resident of New Market died at home on March 18, 2021 at the age of 43.
Ibukun is survived by his parents Dr. Yekini and Felicia Ashamu, his wife Annie Ashamu, and his children, Valerie, Victoria and Isabella Ashamu. He is predeceased by his brothers, Femi and Sheyi Ashamu, and his sisters Sheun Abiara, Dola Soretire, Bunmi Ashamu, Yetunde Okorie, and several nieces and nephews.
Born on February 23, 1978 to Dr. and Mrs. Ashamu, he graduated from the University Maryland, College Park in Information System with a Bachelor's degree. He went on to pursue a postgraduate degree at the prestigious Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University where he graduated with a Master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, Strategy, and General Management.
Ibukun, known to many of his friends as Tony, was a devoted family man who loved a good debate, fashion, music, politics, and traveling. He was passionate about education and mentoring personal growth. He was a free spirit and never afraid of overcoming any obstacle. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 2, 2021, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
